Who we are
Fabmap was founded by Fabian Stricker in 2017. We are an IT services provider based in Vienna, Austria.
Why
Isao Hashimoto’s media art work „1945-1998“ was a major inspiration for founding Fabmap. Representing all 2053 nuclear explosions at that time on a world map. This work is successful among other things because it compresses 636 months in 10 minutes. Viewers experience the geographic and national distribution of nuclear tests chronologically.
This experience is impressive and captivating. When Fabian finished his Master Thesis, he was worried over its uptake and subsequent impact. His topic ‚Drivers of commercial nuclear investments‘ can be boring. Influenced by Hashimoto, Fabian asked a friend to co-create a visualization of his research.
